Delete your account

Two ways to permanently remove your Debrief account and all associated data — inside the app, or by email if you've lost device access.

Option 1 · From inside the app

Delete from Debrief on your phone

This is the fastest way and works whether you're signed in with Google or using Debrief anonymously.

  1. 1.Open the Debrief app on your phone.
  2. 2.From the Home screen, tap the gear icon (top right) to open Settings.
  3. 3.Tap Account (the first card under "Account").
  4. 4.Scroll down to the Danger zone section.
  5. 5.Type DELETE in the confirmation field, then tap Delete my account.

This is immediate. There is no undo.

Option 2 · By email

Email us if you can't open the app

Use this path if you've lost the device, uninstalled the app, or otherwise can't reach the in-app option above.

Email support@yourdebrief.com with the subject line "Account deletion request" and include:

  • The email address you used to sign in with Google (if you ever signed in)
  • A short note confirming you want your account and data permanently deleted

If you never signed in (anonymous-only use), uninstalling the app already wipes the local user ID. Any server-side traces tied to that anonymous ID are purged within 30 days. Email us only if you want explicit confirmation.

What gets deleted

Removed permanently

  • Your account record
  • All interview recordings (audio files)
  • Transcripts and self-assessments
  • Generated reports and scores
  • Pipeline entries (companies, roles, statuses)
  • Push notification tokens
  • Email address (if you signed in with Google)

Retained briefly, then purged

  • Encrypted backups: up to 90 days, then auto-purged
  • Anonymized crash logs (Sentry): stored separately for stability monitoring; not linked to identifying information
  • Billing records: Google Play / Apple may retain purchase receipts independently per their own policies — these are not visible to us beyond entitlement state

Full details, including the legal basis for any short-term retention, are in our Privacy Policy.
